About Robin Bond

Robin Bond (formerly Schneider) was raised in a scientifically literate family and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Cal State Los Angeles. She spent the fifteen years following her college graduation homeschooling her four boys. During her years at home, she not only wrote Teaching Science Skills at Home (Without Being a Rocket Scientist), but also spoke at homeschooling conferences nationwide on the subject of teaching science. Later, she returned to school and earned her Ph.D. in geochemistry at the Colorado School of Mines. She taught chemistry at St. John's University in Jamaica, NY for a couple of years and now teaches general, analytical, and environmental chemistry at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA.

Robin's research interests include reactive oxygen species, metal mobility in soils, and astrobiology (specifically, how extremophiles use reactive oxygen species and metal redox chemistry for energy production). Her research activities are chronicled here.
